Route 66 between Truxton and Antares.

There are a couple old abandoned gas stations on the south side of Highway 66 between Truxton and Antares in the Hackberry area.  One was used as a gift shop, but even that appears closed.  The other as a post office. Both locations are blocked off from public access by a fence. The post office sign This is the second which served as a gift shop Then farther to the west in Hackberry there is an establishment that is still in business; but mostly is a storage area for old cars.

Antares Point: After Thanksgiving: Home of Giganticus Headicus

Image
Antares Point is on Route 66, to the north of the road, not much past Vista Villa heading east.  It gives a good sample of Route 66 with old cars, excellent scenery and metal art; some of which is corny. Keepers of the Wild with Jeremy's and Caleb's Families

Image
Keepers of the Wild is on Route 66 in Valentine, AZ.  We took the opportunity to visit Keepers of the Wild whiles family was here for Thanksgiving.  Grandpa Scoresby went home early in the morning, but he has been there before.  Miranda and Tony also have been there before; but the others hadn't.  We had a good time.   The tour focused on the big cats because it was feeding time.  The feeders seemed to follow us along on the tour.  Consequently we have some pretty good pictures. emu Quincy strawberry tiger grandbabies tiger and his ball dingo or singing dog tigers lion leopard white tiger wolf
