Olympic National Park: Mushrooms

Image
The plentiful amount of, and variety of mushrooms makes Olympic National Park unique.   My attempts at identification are sketchy at best.  If you know better let me know.  Lots of back and white mushrooms clinging to trees that were rubbery in texture. HOH rain forest: Olympic National Park

To be considered a rain forest an area must receive 100 inches of rain per year.  Hoh receives 140 inches. A special attraction at the rain forest is the Hall of Mosses.  There are both deciduous trees and conifers.  The root systems are not deep because of the amount of rain.  For this reason many trees have fallen.  Mosses, ferns and mushrooms grow in abundance.  (Mushrooms can be seen here.)  Hall of Mosses creek the trail goes over ferns deer on trail between visitor's center and our campground Hoh River was foggy in the morning as we left.  It was right behind our campground
