Thanksgiving Omaha 2024: Zoo, Fontenelle Forest and Wicked

Image
We went to Omaha for Thanksgiving ho0ing to be qable to meet Charity's new baby.  Riley did not cooperate and was not born until the Monday after Thanksgiving.  We had to go home so Tony could go to school.  Sheri stayed to meet the baby. During the weekend we saw Wicked at the theater, went to a park down by the river; it was very cold, walked through Fontenelle Forest which was also cold but had a neat place for watching the birds, and to the zoo.  At the zoo we mostly went to indoor areas as it again was cold, aquarium, the jungle and gorilla house.  We also went ice skating.  My granddaughter is taking a turn at hockey.  She mostly practices.  But I know the ice is hard.  I am told she has not lost any teeth to this point.  They have nice masks these days.

Caleb and Kids Visit in January

Image
Caleb brought the kiddos down a bit after new years.  We were able to take them to Hualapai Lodge; and Caleb helped Todd steer the buggie.  We also drove through the Park and found some elk.  We saw deer as well but weren't able to get a picture.

Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha

When we visited Charity in Omaha, we visited the zoo three times.  Charity li es a couple blocks from the zoo, so we purchased the annual pass.  It lead to some really fun times and good experiences.  They did have a desert environment, which reminded us of home, and had a road runner.   We took the ride around the zoo, did the sting ray petting pond, kids rode on the merry-go-round.  He had to go back Saturday morning to ride the sky tram; but it was fun.  Jeremy and family were with us this day.  We also visited the swamp, the penguins, the aquarium, the new gorilla enclosure, the seals and saw the show, the butterfly exhibit, and the giraffes with the baby giraffe.
