Billy Wardle Happenings

A play on words with street corn so I asked them if they have sweet corn.  I love the sweetcorn at Chili's.  They had a dish they called chasca which is a version of street corn but the corn is off the cob.  They but the corn in a cup and added mayonaise and sour cream, butter and lime.  I got the version without the hot sauce.  It was a bit much for me and there was corn juice in the bottom indicating the used canned corn and not corn off the cob.   There prices were a bit steep.  I had lemon flavored soft ice cream and it was pretty good.  It was in a waffle cone.  Asher and Jeremy had hard ice cream.  $5 for the corn cups and $5 or $$6 for the ice creams.  Jeremy had a specialty sundae so it wasn't to bad in terms of the price.  However both Jeremy and I decided we wouldn't go back.  

 Rise'n Roll is an Amish donut shop.  It is a place we always frequent at least once when we are in Elkhart.  The donuts are very good albeit a bit more expensive.  They do not maple bars.  Instead they have caramel donuts, or caramel powdered sugar donuts.  Many family members prefer the powdered sugar to the caramel frosting.  They are about $17 a dozen.

 An annual tradition in South Bend is the Notre Dame screening to the movie " Rudy. "  It was cool being in Notre Dame Stadium.  The sign board even announced the score of the game.  Students were on the field, while local families sat in the stands.  I attended with Jeremy and his boys.

 While in Elkhart I took the boys to the Jurassic Quest interavtive activity.  It was pretty fun with photo opportunities, dinosaur races and lassoing.  It was fun.  At the same time I was listening to church via zoom.  I think  Caleb was called to the bishopric.

 Being in Indiana we attended fireworks displays twice, in Mishawaka and Elkhart, on different days.

 I had a good time with Jeremy and the boys this summer.  Among other things we went to the movie a few times, including Despicable Me 4 and Inside Out 2.  We went swimming.  I went to a jazz pianist concert at the Lerner Theaters.  We saw the play "The Shoemaker and the Elves at a small theater in Michigan.  We went swimming in Mishawaka.  Went to a band concert.  There was a park there and the kids spent most of their time at the park and listened to the music from a distance.  Jeremy and I went to a rooftop concert at the library.  We went to the beach with Elizabeth.  Lastly we saw the musical Blood Brothers in reverse, the stage being only the front and then the auditorium.  We sat in the back stage area.  Of course the most enjoyable was spending time with the boys.  We went to ward Primary party.  Went to the Bristol library a lot.  I won a quilt in a raffle there.  And Roarke made cards for me....
