Image
We are starting dress rehearsals tomorrow, which means rehearsals are moving to Kingman High School where we will perform.  The musical opens 3/31/2023.  Get your tickets at Beale Theater.  I am portraying Lazar Wolf. There are many talented people in the case.

Growing a beard for Fiddler on the Roof, Beale Theater, Kingman, Arizona

I never grow a beard unless I do so for some dramatic event.  Such is the case here.  I have been cast as Lazar Wolf in the upcoming Beale Theater presentation of Fiddler on the Roof.  The show will be performed March 31, April 1, 7 and 8 at Kingman High School. A few rehearsal scenes.

Beale Street Theater: A Christmas Carol

Image
Attended the Beale Street Theater presentation of "A Christmas Carol" this past Friday.  This is the Charles Dickens work as adapted by Ed Monk.  It was directed by Malachi Ayers.  This was not a musical version, but it did have a chorus singing before and throughout the show to help with transitions.  They sang traditional carols and were dressed in the Dickens style.  I felt the music was the highlight to the presentation.  The actors were in character and portrayed the mood of the presentation.  I am very familiar with the story and this helped, but the show was well presented.  My only complaint was Scrooge's drooping pants.  And may we all keep Christmas in our hearts year round and honor the past, the present and the future. One Last Visit to the Ghost Walk in Kingman

Image
Sheri,  Tony and I visited the Ghost Walk presented by Beale Theater for the very last tour.  We were on Tour A.  We were met there by a couple neighbors which made the tour funner.  The content of the tour was very similar, but after we heard and saw the story of the mother of Slaughter House Canyon, she stayed with us for the rest of the tour.  She was very creepy with her blood stained dress.  So even though the stories were the same, the experience was very different.  For the stories behind the stories . screaming lady of Slaughter House Canyon Lewis Kingman The bandit who was killed by a Buick in Kingman Al Jollie with the bloody lady behind The last Thriller dance

Beale Street Theater Ghost Walk Tour B

Image
Last night I ventured out on tour A, and returned tonight for tour B.  Both tours start in the same location behind the city building.  More details of the history check here .  However after that they take different routes while coming together for the Thriller Dance.  Tonight we walked down Fourth Street, passing several business where ghost stories were told.  We then turned and went down Beale Street to Fifth.  Along Beale a couple more ghost stories were related, one about smashing wine bottles, and the other an accident which took place in the old Miner Newspaper offices.  To this point the stories were all told by our guide who was accompanied by his assistant--father.   However after turning north on fifth street we were met by three ladies of the red light district.  The madam talked about her pet bird Polly who was given a proper burial because he was so well liked.  The "Rabbit Patch" is the name given to the Red Light district and was actually located where Locom

Beale Theater Ghost Walk tour A

This is the sixth annual Ghost Walk by Beale Theater.  This is a very enjoyable presentation and worthy of any ghost story or history buff.   I consider myself both so I was in my element.  This is a review of the performance, but I have written up the stories which you can link to here .  There was a story about two brothers who burnt themselves up at the old jail.  This was complete with eerie lights and banging sounds.   We were introduced to Lewis Kingman.  The story of the Screaming ghost of Slaughter House Canyon was introduced.  This was complete with screams.  I missed some of the next presentation as we were still walking up when he started.  However the cowboy told the story of a murder, and the ghost that comes back once a year to ride off with his friends.   Hi Jolli of Hadji Ali told the story of the red camel ghost.  She indicated this ghost has been seen in Kingman above the "K" on the hills behind the high school.   The tour included going into the Beale Theat

Beale Theater Talent Fund Raiser

The aerial artist had to be the most impressive talent demonstrated at the Beale Theater talent show.  She would twist herself up and then fall.  She always had the and holding her after she untwisted.  However they placed a mat under her just in case.  There were several musical numbers--solo, duet and choir with solos.  There was dancing--modern, ballet and jazz; and a piano number.  I didn't catch pictures of every act. but here are my views.  On the vocal side I enjoyed the cover of "She's a Woman" by Billy Joel. There were a couple video presentations.  I really enjoyed the video of the progress on the theater.  The renovation really seems quite extensive, and expensive.  I guess slow progress is being made.  This video was more intensive than the one I saw on the website.  There was another featuring the Broadway orchestra and cast for 1776 in New York encouraging donating to the arts.
