Our Back Project is Finished

Image
Our back project is finished but the back is not done yet.  We have concrete for pickle ball and basketball (We still nee to purchase a basket.)  We have a couple trees planted for shade with hopes they will grow bigger.  We have a turf for the kids to play on.  The trampoline is set up.  We have gravel with a cover to keep the ants and the weeds down--and the dust.  By the gate we have a compound which is suppose to compact and provide some protection. You can see I have brought some rocks around.  My hope is the lay some stepping stones between the pavers and the turf so people can cross barefooted.  I also hope to but a border around the trees using quartzite I find on my buggie rides.  Sheri hopes to put some planter boxes in the back corner.  There are a couple water lines laid, one going to the trees and the other is for the planter boxes or pots. Longer range projects could include some kind of a pool or hot tub, a shed in w...

The Cement Happened: Backyard

Image
WE have been working on our backyard for sometime.  This is in East Kingman.  We had grand babies over and hoped it would be done so they could play.  They did get the grass turf patch done for them However. the cement wasn't done before they arrived but while they were here.   The kids really enjoyed watching the cement truck--even though it was early in the morning.  They said 6:30 but they actually arrived at 5:30.  We hope to use the cement pad for basketball and pickle ball.   We hope to add some pavers, some trees and some gravel.

Kingman's Largest Park: Centennial Park

Kingman, according to my calculations and not counting school diamonds has 15 ball diamonds, of which 13 have lights.  Seven lighted of these diamonds are at Centennial Park.  In addition there is a nice covered playground, a large field for soccer playing or flying kites and paths for walking.   The center for racquet sports in Kingman is Centennial Park.  They have tennis courts, two in door racquetball courts, and new pickle ball courts.  You can use the outside of the racquetball complex to hit the ball against the wall.  Unlike other communities where I have lived, the courts are locked and only accessible after paying a fee at the recreation complex.  The fee is minimal, like $3 for and hour and a half of play.   The park also has picnic and grills.  There are horse shoe pitching areas.  There is an area with basketball hoops which can also be used for volleyball.  Beyond the outfield of one of the ball diamond...
