With Charity and Family to Mormon Trail Center at Winter Quarters Visitor Center.

One of our favorite stops in Omaha is the Mormon Trail Visitor Center where we can try out the handcarts both inside and outside.  It is a fun place.  I was disappointed to learn that someone had stolen many of the bronze plaques to melt them down for money.  Such a loss and waste.  We walked through the cemetery.  The temple is next to the cemetery.

Last Stop on Olympic National Park Tour: Visitors Center, Port Angeles

Image
The park is designed so an arm of the park extends into Port Angeles.  From here is the road to Hurricane Ridge.  For us the visitor's center became our last stop because the road up Hurricane Ridge was closed for repairs after some flooding in the area. Here there was a nice display of a whaling boat with accessories, including a wooden box and a mat.  Also a harpoon with a bladder.  There were also a couple wildlife exhibits.

Kingman Visitor's Center

My first venture to the Kingman Visitor's Center was fun.  There is a wall with all kinds of tourist pamphlets from the around Arizona.  The local pamphlets are in the corner.  I was most interested in these because the whether is cooling off and I want to get out and explore the area.  I got Oatman, Peach Springs, Chloride and Dolan Springs information.   Also lots of Kingman brochures, including map to the Monolith, Cerbat trail system.  They have books about local history.  I got a couple books about Arizona ghosts.  There are touristy knick knacks.  Sheri is interested in post cards and they were available for only $.30 each. The building is located in an old power plant.  It also houses the Route 66 museum.
