 This rest area looks new.  I80 Westbound near Sutherland.

 This restarea is along the I-80 in Iowa.  It is between Des Moines and Iowa City.  There are a couple historical bulletins, talking about the city of Grinnell and the university in Grinnell. 

 Beaver Rest Area is on the I-80 in Mitchellville, Iowa.  It really doesn't have a theme nor did I see any informational bulletins.  However it did have a very nice grassy picnic area.  

 The rest area east of Santa Rosa (there is also one west of Santa Rosa) is unique in that there are remote wind shades as if they are set up for people to spend the night.  There is a large tree by the restrooms.  The restrooms are kept clean.

 Something unusuao about this New Mexico rest area were the wind breaks spread out and sometimes far away from the restroom.  They had a couple side roads to get to the sheltered picnic areas.  We stopped here for lunch traveling home from Tucson to Omaha.  I also discovered that the Yucca is the state flower of New Mexico.   flowering barrel cactus yucca

  In addition to the historical information there are bicentennial statues  placed in the rest area.

 In Wyoming of the I-80 just over the border from Nebraska is a very ice rest area.  It is not accessed directly off the freeway but is a very short jaunt.  There are some veery nice climbing rocks for the kids and it is close to a Native American archeological dig.  There is a trail going up the hill behing the rest area to the dig. The rest areas in Wyoming always talk about the local wildlife.

 At the Tiffin Rest Area, East bound, just before Iowa City, is a rest area with an Iowa literary theme.  It has quotes at the picnic areas, and names of authors in the restroom.  Very unique, and during warmer weather may be a fun place to spend a bit more time. Large fountain pen Music Man
