Entertainment Venue: Slowdown

Image
Slowdown is on 14th street a half block from Cummings.  It is an entertainment venue with a bar; or a bar with an entertainment venue.  At any rate there was an area where you could get away from the bar.  Because of the event we were attending, Sing Omaha, it was very crowded.  The entry was close to the bar and thee were many people around.  We tried the balcony for the first part, and then I moved down to the floor which was funner and not quite as crowded.   Parking is also very hard in this area.  I don't know who was able to find parking. but you had to get there much earlier than we did.  This is what I wrote of Charity's show:  That evening we went to downtown Omaha to the Slow Down Bar for Charity's concert performance with Sing Omaha.  She is in the women's choir.  The master chorale also sang.  They sang pop songs, each group sang six and then one together.  I enjoyed "Listen to the Music" "Man Eater"...

Restaurant Review: The Habit

Image
The habit is a restaurant on the west coast and the east coast, and not much in between.  They are a Gourmet hamburger restaurant.  We visited in Cupertino California where is is close to De Anza and Stevens Creek.  They are gourmet burgers, and the are a bit pricier than most hamburger restaurants.  I had the portobello burger.  I started worrying it would just be mushroom, but it did come with a hamburger patty.  It was very good, in the top tier of mushroom burgers.  Tony and Sheri had bacon burgers.  We all had meals so fries and a drink from the soda fountain. In terms of preference I would pick Five Gus over the Habit although both are pricey.

Rest Area East of Santa Rosa New Mexico

Image
The rest area east of Santa Rosa (there is also one west of Santa Rosa) is unique in that there are remote wind shades as if they are set up for people to spend the night.  There is a large tree by the restrooms.  The restrooms are kept clean.

Omaha Restaurant Review: Bomb Tacos

Image
Bomb Tacos is located in the Dundee neighborhood of Omaha on the corner of Underwood and 50th.  It is the location of a bomb exploding in WWII which had been sent on a balloon from Japan.  The bomb did not injure anyone but a similar device did kill someone in Oregon. We visited Bomb Tacos on a Tuesday after a volleyball game put us in the area.  It was Tuesday taco day so street tacos were only $2.  Aheri and I both had tacos which were very good, carnitas and carne asada are both very good.  I also had elotitos, street corn, which was very good.  Sheri ordered chis and dip.  He had mixed chips, but corn and wheat.  I especially like the wheat ones.  Sheri didn't like their salsa but I enjoyed it.  We brought a burrito home to Tony which he enjoyed.   There are two other Bomb Tacos, on in Papillion and the other in west Omaha on Maple Street.
