HOH rain forest: Olympic National Park

To be considered a rain forest an area must receive 100 inches of rain per year.  Hoh receives 140 inches. A special attraction at the rain forest is the Hall of Mosses.  There are both deciduous trees and conifers.  The root systems are not deep because of the amount of rain.  For this reason many trees have fallen.  Mosses, ferns and mushrooms grow in abundance.  (Mushrooms can be seen here.)
