Elkhart Restaurant Review: Steak n' Shake

This is a restaurant we visited while we were in Indiana.  I have looked and there is not one near Omaha.  Closest is a couple hundred miles away, Kansas City.  They brag about their fries and tater tots being cooked in beef tallow.  Their website talks about them transitioning away from seed oils.  Apparantly this is to avoid heavy processing and polyunsaturated fats.  The food tasted OK but the restaurant itself smelled of the tallow fats.

I enjoyed by grilled cheese, I wasn't in the mood for a burger.  Sheri had a burger and said it was very good.  I had a large order of tater tots and they were very good.  We all had shakes.  I had the butterfinger and it was excellent.  Most of the kids had Oreo shakes or cookies and cream.  They also had chocolate chip mint and Snickers.  It was a bit pricey with the shakes but overall a good experience.  Their first store was on Route 66 in Normal, Ill.
