Kingman Hualapai Mountain Strings Concert
An unexpected surprise was the Hualapai Strings concert in Kingman this year. This was Friday December 23. It was so well done and very enjoyable. Help at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Kingman. The performers gave a great gift back to the community. Of course I forgot my camera, but I did get the program. The concert was very enjoyable. I most enjoyed the four songs they invited the audience to sing with the strings--three in a row: Joy to the World, Hark! the Herald Angels and Oh Come, All Ye Faithful, and then the final number, Silent Night. Sheri most enjoyed O Come, O Come Emmanuel. They played the Piano Guys version with two cellos and Emma Wilcock on piano. It was very good with the cascading piano against the cellos on melody. Again I really enjoyed Away in a Manger. There were six violins, two cellos and two played piano. But for the most part, Diane Schreiber was on the piano as Emma Wilcock also played violin. Schreiber was very accomplished. The Swigerts, two on cello and two on violin were half of the group. It was fun to see the young violinists, Kjersti Swigert was one of them, play their violins with the older musicians. They also provided percussion, bells and whip, on one number. We Three Fiddles was a unique tune, combining the melody for We Three Kings with some serious fiddling.
It was a wonderful presentation, and a wonderful gift from the Hualapai Mountain Strings to the community.
