Bellevue Restaurant Review: Appleee's

Image
We took my niece to Applebee's with us while we were moving in.  This is just up the street from our house on Cornhusker.  However my niece did not want to be there.  She likes home cooking and not trying new thungs.  Sheri drove her hme reallh fast while we ordered.  he was back before her meal came.   Other than that we had the regular Applebee's fare.  I had riblets, all you can eat but couldn't eat very many.  Miranda and Tony had pasta and Sheri had French dip.  It all seemed adequate but not stupendous.  We go to Applebee's in a crunch, but as a family prefer Chili's but that is farther from our house.

Restaurant Review: Catfish Lake at the Lodge

Image
Maybe Sheri and I ordered the wrong things, but Catfish Lake at the Lodge sort of fell flat.  This restaurant is atually in La Plattte, a very small community where close to where the new water slide park is being built.  We had gone there before but decided we did not want to wait around for a table as it was overly full.  Seems to be very popular.  We came back earlier in the day and had no trouble getting a table.  I had the catfish, and it came with the whole catfish with all the bones.  It is hard to get bones out sometimes.  Then the batter was too crumbly and fell all over the table and got me very messy.  Other than that it tasted OK.  Sheri had chicken fried steak.  It also was too crumbly, and too salty.  This restaurant was my pick as I was craving catfish.  I should have had the catfish strips I think.  Both Sheri and I agree we will not go back. Mine came with beans and fries

Welcome to Omaha: The Book Nook Used and New Book Store in Papillion

Image
Ventured to the book store in Papillion seeking books on the history of Omaha.   I was not disappointed.  The store is in a historical building on N. Washington close to Papillion Creek.  They told me in the basement was for games.  They also have lots of puzzles.  In the back was a section for kids books.  They had a good section of non fiction with historical books.  In the front was new books.  It was a fun trip.  I was lucky to escape with only spending $50.

Restaurant Review: Jimmy Johns in Florence

Image
I went to Jimmy JOhn's for the first time.  I was really hungry after a day at the temple.  Sheri and I both went.  We also got a sandwhich for Tony.  Tony and Sheri both had Country Club--ham and turkey with Provolone cheese.  I had the Caesar chicken wrap.  Both cases were nothing to write home ab out and Sheri and I have both decided that we will not go back.  The seemed to have only one choice of bread.  I was looking for Philly cheese steak which they don't have.  I guess it is Jersey Mikes that has Philly cheesesteak.  I will remember next time.

Bellevue Restaurant Review: Five Guys

Image
I love Five Guys and their influence keeps extending across the nation.  However I was disappointed with the Five Guys in Kingman.  This is what I wrote:   Five Guys  was a bit of a disappointment.  Their hamburgers are the same, and I love it with mushrooms.  I always order the baby because two patties of the regular overwhelm the flavor of the mushrooms.  In Kingman the store does not have ice cream.  I was looking forward to a caramel shake.  Instead they told me to go to Baskin Robins next door.  Five Guys in Kingman does not have ice cream!!!! Fortunately the five Guys by our home does have ice cream.  I really enjoyed my sea salt caramel shake.  I of course ordered the single patty with mushrooms and mayonnaise.  It was excellent.  I really like the way they over fill the fries.  I ordered one fry for both Tony and I and it was more than enough with some left over.  I also enjoy their peanut...
