Bellevue Restaurant Review: Runza

Image
I had never been to Runza.  But in visiting I think it makes me officially a Nebraskan.  In Bellevue it is on the corner of Gallvin and Harvell.  There is another on 370 and Golden Blvd.  Two things from Runza were suggested in a magazine as true Nebraskan food.  The Runza sandwich of course.  But also chili and a cinnamon roll combo.  I ordered both.  The Runza sandwich was very good.  I was worried about sauerkraut, but if it had some I didn't taste it.  It had a unique ground beef stuffed in a bun.  It came with fries.  The chili and cinnamon roll combo did not come mixed together, but I dipped the cinnamon roll in the chili and it was surprisingly very good.  I think I would like this combo again.

Business Review: Lithuanian Bakery.

I must have hit them at a bad time, the end of the day, and I grabbed a couple things from the refrigerator.  The cream puff was too moist and the crepes had cherries instead of raspberries which I would have preferred.  The stor has a nice mural from the South Omaha Mural Project.  I don't think I will try them again.  It is on 33rd Street just south of Q Street.

South Omaha Library

I have found another library to frequent which is close to our home.  It is only a couple of miles.  I like to visit South Omaha.  The down fall is that being a non Omaha resident it cost me $100 to get a card.  They have a greater selection of books, especially Native American history which I like.  They also have a more liberal policy with regards to movie rentals.  You get the movie for three weeks and then can renew.  They also have a larger collection.  I can put things on hold from the entire Omaha library system.  There are 13 Omaha libraries with another set to open next month.  I will probably visit the new library which will be on Dodge.  The South Omaha library is also the Metro Community College South Omaha library.
