New Light at Last Stop on Route 93
There is a new stop light on route 93 at Last Stop. The light is now active. There is a warning light before the actual light. Is this an indication that the state has given up on the idea of an 11 corridor? There is also a new Carls Jr. just a bit south with a new road coming off the highway.

ReplyDeleteThis was very upsetting to see that it wasn’t put at 93 and Perice Ferry were they have crashes and deaths at but to accommodate gas station think we could do better
Dawn Horne Thompson
ReplyDeleteI hit the red light there and I was fearing the worst until it turned green. Thank goodness no one rear ended me. 🤞 🙏
Steve Cromer
ReplyDeleteYep, I got that exact impression.
my facebook comment. Highway 93 going to Las Vegas has a new stop light. Just wondering if this gives the impression that Corridor 11 is not happening anytime soon.

I don't feel like that light will help ... the warning light is way too close to the intersection and there are no other signs before that light .... and I feel like with the other truck stops in the area it is pointless they all have people crossing the highway to enter and exit ... if a light was ever a plan they should have put all the truck stops by each other where that one intersection and light gave access to them all honestly

It definitely snuck up on us! It’s such an abrupt stop!! Should have some warning sign way before you actually have to stop!

ReplyDeleteI think it means there will probably be exits there with an underpass/overpass eventually

Paul Arnold Gaines I think the lights are cheaper and route 11 will be a worse death rate then 93

Marty Ottenschot yes, they are cheaper. And quicker to install. Doesn’t mean it won’t be changed out at a later date

ReplyDeleteWell if anyone actually drove the posted speed it might help, it does drop to 45 before the stop light. And there are signs.

We went through yesterday and it was honestly terrifying. Not only did we barely have time to stop once we realized but the people behind us were screeching to a hault to avoid hitting the cars in front of them. The semis going full speed we’re unable to stop in time and had to run the light. Imagine being a car in front of one ?! Horrified. Someone’s going to die.

What were they thinking? Cars are going 90, trucks pretty fast too and they should come upon a stop light?
Greg Vandermeer
ReplyDeleteThey are still hitting hard and developing two lanes each way on the 93 South to Phoenix. What they really need are overpasses instead of lights. You could say the same about all the round abouts on the South 93 to Phoenix as well just slows people down for safety. A light was needed here I just drove through last week all the traffic makes it way safer with the new buildings.

Traci Oborny there are signs to warn of the light

Brenda Reed Agnes from a lot of the comments I've read the warning lights are very close to stop lights and people were slamming on brakes and some running the light to avoid being rear ended. That's scary.....

ReplyDeleteIf people are paying attention, there are signs and speed reduction prior to a light you can see 1/2 mile away.
Reply4h
Russel Smith
John Goad at 90 mile per hour it is easy to miss "signs"

Russel Smith the speed limit is 65. I am sure the next step will be more speed enforcement.

If the intent was to make hwy 93 safer than the light should have been put at Pierce Ferry and 93. There has been more serious accidents at that location than at Last Stop and the small airport. What was ADOT thinking???
Raelene Mecom
ReplyDeleteThere should not be a stop light on the highway. Period.

It was one of the governments "shovel-ready" projects from years back. Those morphed into the southern border "tunnel ready" and then Uncle Joe's drug ready free-flowing OPEN Border project.

Yeppers, came thru there Thursday and was surprised to see it. Husband was driving and noticed signs and felt it is well marked. Dolan Springs needs to get on the bandwagon for lights.

I drive that road both ways everyday, morning and evening. The number of people who will try to run across or pull out in front of you there is minimal. They must be looking ahead to something bigger but the ONLY time it's remotely busy there is Friday afternoons and weekends. But hey! There's a CarlsJR near there now.

Hopefully it's near the chevron on east bound side. Was almost killed there due to a driver that wasn't paying attention

It’s a fucken highway not a city street. Geez. Put in frontage roads and de acceleration lanes and acceleration lanes in. Not stop highway traffic. I can’t wait to be hit . I’m going to own the state, county, the store and the fucker who hits me and lives. @ADOT

The amount of people on here who’ve never driven anywhere else that has a highway with a 65mph speed limit and stoplights is astounding. Do y’all not go to Lake Havasu or go down the hill to BHC? Have you never traveled out of state to other places that have highway like this? The comments here are so closed minded it’s ridiculous.

More developments= more precautions taken for the safety of all people driving in the area. It’s a stop light not the end of the world. It’s not the first highway to have a stop light, there’s plenty in Arizona and other states. Maybe drive the speed limits and pay attention to road signs so you can prepare yourself for the stop. Y’all act like this is the first ever stop light on a highway or like it’s the end of the world because you have to stop due to an up and coming high traffic area with various new developments. Get over yourselves, slow down, pay attention or stay off any roads or highways and definitely out of a vehicle! I drive on worse highways with constant construction and a lot of traffic that are way worse then highway 93. You’re in control of your own life and vehicle. If you can’t take the time to drive cautiously and pay attention then you’re part of the reason the death rates go up on these roads!!
