I spent only one night at the Giant City State Park. I was surprised by how close it was to Carbondale. I had never camped there before. The other surprising thing I discovered is the lodge. They served the best chicken I think I have ever eaten. It was very juicy. I didn't find the cliffs I knew as a youth. However the campground was very nice with a shower. It was also very inexpensive. They also had cabins with a pool. There was a water tower for climbing.
