Kingman Hikes: Monolith Garden

I took a morning hike to Monolith Gardens.  My first hike in the gardens but hopefully not my last.  I started from the Metwell Trailhead.  This is about a half mile up on the left, from I-40 on the 93.  I went up the hill for about a half mile before turning around. In other words there is much more to see here.  However I was very impressed with what I did see.  I saw ocotillo.  I had't realized it had spiny thorns before.  There were interesting rocks.  In fact the trail was fairly rocky.  I saw a little lizard scamper away, and some raptor birds which flew away in front of me so I couldn't identify them.  There was a view down to a wash and a view back towards Kingman.  I saw cholla cactus, a yucca type plant and I tree I couldn't identify.  Also views of cliffs and rocks in the distance.  This is part of the Cerbat Foothills Recreation Area where there are over 40 miles of trails.
